Phil Jones hints at future plans after graduating from PFA Business School

Phil Jones is among a group of former Premier League stars to graduate from the PFA Business School, gaining a Diploma in Sports Management.

The former Manchester United defender, who retired last year at the age of 32, received his certificate at a ceremony this week. Sharing photos on Instagram in his cap and gown, Jones hinted at the next step in his career.

“Global sports management course done @thepfabusiness,” he wrote. “Based on my training badges and current pro license as the journey continues…”

Congratulations quickly poured in from former United and England team-mates, including Antonio Valencia and Kyle Walker, as well as Benny McCarthy and Sam Allardyce – the manager who first gave him his professional breakthrough at Blackburn Rovers.

Jones wasn’t the only familiar name in the graduating class.

Former Newcastle and Norwich goalkeeper Tim Carroll and West Brom man Kyle Bartley also received diplomas in sports management, while Premier League winner Danny Simpson completed a diploma in football psychology, emotional intelligence and leadership.

There were also current stars: Newcastle’s Yoan Vissa and five-time Premier League champion Ilkay Gundogan were both part of the latest intake.

As for Jones, with Manchester United in deep crisis on and off the pitch, some fans will wonder if a future role back at Old Trafford might be on the horizon.
