Manchester United are reportedly still eyeing a transfer move for Brighton midfielder Carlos Balba, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils are keen on the Cameroon international after already targeting him over the summer, although Brighton were adamant he was not for sale.
talking about YouTube, Romano He explained that Man Utd saw Ballaba as a “perfect signing”, and it remains a situation to keep an eye on for the summer of 2026.
So it seems pretty clear that we can expect United will return to BalabaEven if it’s unlikely to be available in January, then it might be one to watch next summer.
Watch Romano’s video post on Baleba below, in which he also suggests Wrighton won’t mind waiting for other clubs to potentially join the race for the 21-year-old…
“(Roben) are supposed to have pushed a lot for Balba in the summer transfer window,” Romano said.
“Amory saw Ballaba as a perfect target for Man United in terms of intensity in midfield, in terms of skills, in terms of potential, in terms of Premier League knowledge.
“He was considered a perfect signing by people at the club and by the manager. Brighton closed the doors on that possibility.
“In January at the moment Brighton don’t want to send a player. So it remains a difficult deal for January to the summer. We’ll see what’s going to happen there because my United may be there and Brighton feel that maybe other clubs can also join the race for an important talented midfielder like Carlos Balba.
“So for sure, a situation worth watching, also because in general Baleba or Man United are otherwise looking for an important midfielder to add to the squad in 2026. We’ll see what kind of opportunities there will be in January or eventually in the summer transfer window. But the midfielder will be a crucial position to cover for Manchester United next year 2026.”
David Orenstein reported on this in the summer Bale was ready for a move to UnitedSo it shouldn’t be a problem if they try to revive the deal again in the future.
MUFC fans will be hoping that their club can stay in pole position for this talented young player, but one can imagine that we will also see other big names join the race for his signature.
Balaba looks set to be Brighton’s next big sale, having previously cashed in on stars such as Moise Caicedo, Marc Cucorella, Leandro Trussard and Joao Pedro.
