Rohit Sharma’s heartwarming gesture towards Virat Kohli stole the limelight as the Indian national cricket team embarked on their white-ball tour of Australia on Wednesday (October 15) morning from Delhi.
The ODI squad led by Shubman Gill was seen leaving for Perth at the Delhi airport. As the Indian players boarded the team bus en route to the T3 airport, Rohit Sharma’s gesture caught everyone’s attention.
In a clip shared by the BCCI on social media, the former captain first walked past Shubman Gill before hugging the new ODI captain after watching the camera.

Later, Rohit Sharma was seen bowing slightly while congratulating Virat Kohli, who was sitting inside the team bus at the airport. This moment highlights the bond and mutual admiration between two of India’s biggest cricket icons. Now, the brief exchange has instantly gone viral on the Internet.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill was all smiles as he embarked on his new journey as India’s new ODI captain after an amazing start to his career as the Test captain. In the video, Virat Kohli was seen congratulating Gill before hugging the young captain on the team bus.
Apart from Gill, Rohit, Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Dhruv Jorel, Yashaswi Jaiswal, Harshit Rana, KL Rahul, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep SinghNitish Kumar Reddy and Prasidh Krishna, along with some support staff, flew from Delhi to Perth in the morning group.
The second group will leave for Australia on Wednesday evening. Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir will travel to Perth with the rest of the squad in the second team.

Now, the Punjab lad is eyeing a strong start as Australia’s ODI captain as the first ODI is set to get underway on October 19 in Perth.
The second and final ODIs are scheduled for October 23 and 25 at the Adelaide Oval and the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), respectively. After the ODI match, the Men in Blue, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will take on Australia in the three-match T20I series, starting on October 29 at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli once again melted hearts with a beautiful gesture ahead of India’s departure to Australia. As he sat in the front seat of the team bus, he noticed a young boy in an RCB shirt holding a banner with his name on it. Cooley immediately called security to get the poster, signed it and returned it to the cheering fan, who stood proudly outside the bus.
Well, the Australia tour marks the much-awaited return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to international cricket after eight months. They were last seen in action during India’s Champions Trophy 2025 win in the UAE.
While Gatam Gambhir and Ajit Agrakar Remaining non-committal about their places at the 2027 World Cup, they will be keen to make a point with the bat in Australia.
